Each year, Denton community volunteers join Keep Denton Beautiful in a nationwide cleanup effort with Keep America Beautiful and Keep Texas Beautiful - The Great American Cleanup.  Denton's local Great American Cleanup Event includes a citywide land and waterway cleanup, followed by a Volunteer Party and Environmental Fair that includes free lunch for all volunteers, kid's environmental activities, and more.  Also in conjunction with this event, the City of Denton Landfill holds an annual Free Landfill Day for City of Denton residents.

Great American Cleanup KidsThrough the years, over a million volunteers have collected many thousands
of pounds of trash from the streets, waterways, and neighborhoods of Denton. This is the largest volunteer event hosted by Keep Denton Beautiful and volunteer groups of all ages participate, including Boys and Girl Scouts troops, college fraternities and sororities, civic groups, and representatives from City Council. In 2011, over 1,100 community volunteers collected more than 4 TONS of trash and recycling during this three hour long cleanup - a truly incredible feat!
