2010 Great American Cleanup

Last year, over 1,200 volunteers cleaned up more than 245,000 pounds of trash from the streets, waterways, and neighborhoods of Denton. Join our ever growing ranks, and volunteer this year!
Volunteer Registration
Pre-registration
Pre-registration for the Great American Cleanup 2010 is now closed.
Event day registration
Registration will be available the morning of the event at 8–10 a.m. at event headquarters, the Denton Civic Center (see Google map).
Liability Waiver
All volunteers must sign a liability waiver.

Cleanup Sites & Materials
Sections of roadway will be assigned or volunteers can select a site to clean. Pre-registered volunteers can pick up trash bags and other supplies at the KDB office ahead of time on Tuesday 3/2/10 or Wednesday 3/3/10.
Pizza Lunch & Activities
Mayor Mark Burroughs will welcome all volunteers to a Papa John’s Pizza Volunteer Lunch at the Civic Center at noon. Also at the Civic Center, the City of Denton Facilities Management Department will bring out “The Bulb Eater” to recycle tubular fluorescent bulbs of all lengths and sizes. Eyeglasses and cell phones will also be collected for recycling.
FREE Landfill Day
The City of Denton Landfill (see Google map) is sponsoring a free landfill day for residential waste for Denton residents from 7 a.m. to noon. No commercial or hazardous waste will be allowed. Proof of Denton residency is required. Appliances containing Freon will be assessed a $50 fee. Also at the landfill, Briscoe Tire will sponsor tire recycling (limit four 20-inch tires per vehicle).
