Kicking Butts On Fry Street!

After three clean-ups, three Street Team events, and nine weeks of tracking cigarette litter on and around Fry Street, the results of KDB’s Cigarette Litter Prevention Program (CLPP) are in.  During the initial phase of this new program, cigarette-related litter in the Fry Street area was reduced by a whopping 63%!

Your Butt Is Trash! These exciting results have encouraged KDB to continue clean-up efforts in the heavily littered Fry Street area. In the New Year, KDB staff and volunteers will begin to explore more long-term, sustainable options for reducing cigarette litter on Fry Street.

The Cigarette Litter Prevention Program is a public outreach campaign designed to reduce the littering of cigarette butts and other cigarette-related items in the Fry Street area of Denton. To date, KDB has installed 20 ash receptacles in the area, put up public service posters in the windows of local businesses, and distributed free pocket ashtrays, bumper stickers and t-shirts to Fry Street area patrons.
