Stream Clean — Fall Waterway Cleanup Event

Stream Clean

What is Stream Clean?

Stream Clean is a volunteer cleanup event targeting specific waterways in and around Denton. Cleaning up our waterways is important not only because it helps Denton look better, but because it impacts our quality of life. The event is presented by Denton Water Utilities in partnership with Keep Denton Beautiful.

To participate in Stream Clean you must register as a volunteer. You can still register on the day of the event at the Civic Center Pavilion.  If you have any questions concerning Stream Clean, please contact Kara Roberson, kara.roberson@cityofdenton.com

Day of the Event

You can register at the Civic Center Pavilion (Stream Clean Headquarters) on October 15, 2011, event day, at 8:00 am.  If you are pre-registered and need your supplies and t-shirts, you can check in here as well, otherwise you can go to your assigned site that morning. We suggest bringing rakes and gloves that will not easily rip or tear. A limited amount of gloves will be provided for volunteers. Bags will be provided at check-in.

Cleanup activities will usually take place from 9 to 11 a.m. You will receive a map and directions to the area you are cleaning. Cleanup areas are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. To help you, most areas will have a City of Denton team leader on-site.

Free Lunch After the Event

After the cleanup, join us for free lunch and drinks. Lunch will be served at about 11:30 a.m. at the Civic Center Pavilion. Volunteers also receive a free, colorful T-shirt. A signed waiver must be provided for all participants to receive their t-shirt. Please bring this waiver when you are picking up your supplies (either prior to the event or event day).
